It’s snowing still.
However, we haven’t had an earthquake lately.
From A.A. Milne’s House at Pooh Corner
I know this isn’t earth-shaking news for you, but optimists have it so much better than their counterparts. I’ve known pessimistic people who, like Eeyore, never went anywhere without their own rain cloud following along. I have a friend who expected the worst from everyone and everything. And more often than not, it seemed like that’s what she got. With her, it wasn’t a case of glass being half-empty or half-full. It was a question of why bother putting any amount in the glass; it’s eventually going break anyway.
I’m sorry but…that kind of outlook is not going to work for me. I don’t think it works for anyone. Given the choice, I’m going to keep the faith, fan the flames on every glimmer of hope, make plans for how I’ll spend the brighter day that’s on the way, laugh when I can, cry when I must, stay in touch with people who truly matter, and keep on standing tall. I think if you do your best, the rest will take care of itself.
